Chaplain at Norfolk FBI InfraGard and 30 Year Security Veteran Becomes Newest Member of Institute for Church Safety and Risk Management Advisory Board

The Institute for Church Safety and Risk Management (ICSARM) has announced that Bob Chauncey has agreed to serve on the Advisory Board effective January 1, 2010. Mr. Chauncey is the owner of Asset Safety Equipment and Church Security Institute, both based out of the Norfolk, Virginia area. He also serves as a Deputy Sheriff and Commercial Security Consultant, Police Chaplain and sells safety and security equipment to police, fire, and EMS departments.

Tupelo, MS, December 26, 2009 --(PR.com)-- A highly skilled security expert with over 30 years experience in the security industry. Chauncey brings to the ICSARM Advisory Board a wealth of experience. “We are extremely grateful for the willingness of Bob to serve on our Advisory Board and provide assistance and direction as we seek to meet the risk management needs of churches across North America,” said ICSARM’s Executive Director Michael Boutot. “Bob’s level of expertise in security is unmatched in the industry” continues Boutot, “and we are simply delighted to have such a servant for our Board as well as an individual who will serve as a Chapter President for our Church Safety Roundtable in the Norfolk, Virginia area.”

A current Board Member and Chaplain at Norfolk FBI InfraGard and VA Crime Clinic Eastern Chapter, Mr. Chauncey has a passion for providing safety and security. He built up a force of 150+ doing all forms of law enforcement and security including K-9, uniformed patrol of over 10,000 apartment units, schools, a University, parks, hospital, shopping centers, industry and government buildings and projects, with investigations and alarm, CCTV and access control system sakes were added to their physical security.

Bob graduated from Frederick College in Portsmouth, VA with a Bachelor of Science in Psychology. In 1980 Bob was certified by exam from ASIS as a Certified Protection Professional. He also attended the Smith & Wesson Academy in Springfield, MA and was certified in Security Management. Bob also attended John Jay College in New York, NY and studied Security Management, in addition to a number of Criminal Justice courses.

"As a former police officer and current Sheriff's Deputy and Chaplain, I realize there has always been a need to help churches and ministry see and understand their need to be prepared for a future disaster, attack or emergency, either natural or man made” states Mr. Chauncey. “Too many do not know where to turn and even some public resources do not have the experience or certifications that could help on an individual basis and better prepare for these situations.” He goes on to state “I believe that the Institute for Church Safety & Risk Management will be a tremendous help in this area and will give local churches a real resource to help them in this preparation for a future emergency and as such I am delighted to be part of the Advisory Board.”

Bob is a member and attends First Baptist Church Norfolk, which also commissioned and licensed him as a Chaplain when he submitted for the Police Academy. He serves on the Facilities Committee as their Safety Security member. Bob also serves as a member of Baptist Disaster Relief and Response for the Southern Baptist Convention and Southern Baptist Conservatives of Virginia.
