Tutors International Cancels Private Tutoring Contract with Student Due to Suspicions of Cheating

Tutors International has canceled a substantial private tutoring contract with a university student in their final year when suspicions of cheating on their dissertation were raised by the tutor

Oxford, United Kingdom, January 25, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Tutors International, a prestigious private tutoring agency, has announced that a substantial private tutoring contract with a university student has been cancelled due to concerns that the student in question was cheating. Keeping names withheld to protect the privacy of those involved, the agency was asked to help a student in their final year with their dissertation. However, once the private tutoring was underway, the tutor reported a suspicion that the student was not producing any of the drafts under discussion, prompting Tutors International to withdraw from the contract on ethical and moral grounds. "It was a very uncomfortable situation, but I am very grateful to the tutor involved for reporting this to us," commented Adam Caller, founder of Tutors International. "We're often approached by families to help undergraduate students at university, especially for those who are struggling to cope with the transition from A-level to undergraduate level education. However, in this case it was apparent that the student in question was obtaining rough drafts of their dissertation from a third party and became incredibly defensive when the tutor asked to see notes and source materials in order to discuss the topic."

"There is often a grey area when it comes to how much private tutors help school-age students, especially when a tutor needs to help a child out of a downward spiral of failure," Adam explained. "But it is a different matter altogether when it comes to helping university undergraduates, especially those in their third year who are often at the end of their education. Whilst we are happy to help a student organise their thoughts and present them in the best way possible, they have to do the hard work of drafting the dissertation themselves. Tutors International prides itself on a strong moral compass, in fact our recent re-branding features a compass in our logo to reflect this, but sadly there are many less scrupulous private tutoring and essay writing services out there who are prepared to help students to cheat their way to a degree. Whilst we're disappointed that the contract had to end this way," Adam concluded, "I'm pleased that we have maintained our integrity."
