IPTV Service Provider Auroras Certifies Tilgin Mood 300 STB

Kalispell, MT, October 18, 2006 --(PR.com)--  IPTV service provider Auroras Entertainment is pleased to announce that it has certified the Tilgin Mood 300 IP Set-top Box for use within the Auroras IPTV solution. The Mood 300 has been successfully tested in Auroras’ Kalispell, MT lab and in the company’s field trials. The standard definition MPEG-4 Mood 300 has been integrated into the Auroras open system of components that include products from multiple set-top box, middleware and encryption vendors.

Auroras COO Steve Bukowski praised the Tilgin platform in a statement issued Wednesday. “Availability of MPEG-4 set-top boxes has been a thorny issue in the industry,” said Bukowski. “Due to the success that Tilgin has had with their European roll-out of the Mood 300, they were able to provide us with a set-top box that is stable and ready. Given the level of complexity that we deal with in our field trails on a daily basis, having a set-top box that we can count on has been great. We look forward to seeing the next generation of the Mood product line that Tilgin will deliver.”

Tilgin has been deploying Mood 300 IP Set-Top-Boxes since the commercial launch in June, 2005 of BelgacomTV, the IPTV service of Belgium’s largest carrier. This solution is one of the first major commercial IPTV deployments in Europe.

With over 200,000 boxes currently deployed, the Mood 300 provides a reliable and quality solution for IPTV viewing and entertainment. Included in Tilgin’s STB offerings is the Mood Development Kit that provides a flexible and powerful tool for quick and stable integrations of 3rd party middleware and conditional access systems.

“Auroras’ business model is a perfect fit for IOC’s and others in the US market. We are pleased that they have chosen Tilgin set-top boxes for their first commercial deployment,” says Mats Hovmöller, VP Sales at Tilgin. “We have for some time now been delivering Mood 300 STBs with MPEG-4 AVC decoding. I am positive that Auroras’ customers will be receiving a top-class solution.”

Auroras Entertainment provides a combination of services and technologies that enables telecommunications providers to deploy entertainment services to their customers over their existing broadband IP networks. The Auroras solution offers service providers up to a 90% capital expense reduction over a self-provisioned headend system. To provide these services, Auroras receives over 160 standard and high definition channels of video and over 40 digital music channels at its master headend. This content is encoded utilizing MPEG4 AVC and encrypted with 128 bit AES technology. This groomed content is delivered via satellite to the service providers’ site, where an IPTV Gateway is deployed. The content is then passed over the service provider’s network to a set top box in the subscriber’s home where the content is decrypted and viewed. The service includes Digitization and Transport Rights, wholesale Affiliate Rights, a complete Video-On-Demand Component, IP Set Top Boxes, and complete 24/7 on-call and on-site customer support.
