Fiesta de la Luna at Wildwood: End of Summer Wilderness Music Festival is a Success Thanks to Strong Silver City Community Support

Silver City, NM, October 18, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The organizers of the 2nd annual Fiesta de la Luna Music Festival want to thank everyone in the community who supported the September 8-10 held at Wildwood Hot Springs near the Cliff Dwellings.  There were over 300 in attendance for the 3-day outdoor event, and the weather was perfect for a weekend that had originally forecast a continuous downpour for the area.

Title sponsors for the festival were Gallery 400 & Gila House Hotel and Prudential Silver City Properties.  Special mention sponsors of the event included Red Barn Family Steakhouse, The Drifter Lounge & Motel, Yankie Texas Art District, Gila Hike & Bike, Century 21 Real Estate, Holiday Inn Express, Southwest Collision Repair, Rebel X Tattoos, Manzanita Ridge, Silver City Food Co-op, Syzygy Tileworks, Issaac's Bar & Grill, Diamond's Gym, Dan and John's Rejuvenations, and Bear Mountain Motorcycle Shop.

Additional sponsors include Kenneally Appraisals, Orchid Café & Cienega Spa, Silver City Brewing Company, The Smoke Shoppe, The Guest House, DragOn Motors, In-n-Out Lube, Art & Conversation, Desert Blossom Books.  Very special thanks to individual supporters Charlene Gaubis and Grant Moser.

Barefoot Studio from Arenas Valley provided perfect sound for the event.  Morning Star Apparel did an outstanding job producing the festival t-shirts.

And as always, Mouse of All Trades and J&J Signs handled the flyers, banners and other printing without a hitch.

For the entire three days, local start-up Mama's Kitchen provided the continuous food court that never closed and never turned anyone away hungry.  Kristen Arigoni, co-team leader and on-site festival coordinator said, "The Mama's Kitchen chefs provided a wide variety of foods, available all day for snackers, vegetarians and burgerheads.  I had some of the best chili I have eaten.  I wouldn't have been able to coordinate such a smooth event if it weren't for Mama's Kitchen!  I can't wait until next year."

Beautiful music played non-stop from Friday afternoon until Sunday afternoon.  Saturday's music was by far the highlight of the festival.  Silver City's own Rhythm Mystic kicked it off with their tight set of R&B.  New River Blues followed with a flawless jam-band set that was out of this world.  Original reggae from Root Skankadelic kicked the energy into the cosmic.  And Gila's own Funk Farmers closed the night with a hard-hitting jam funk set that sent shivers through the crystal clear night.

This was a special interactive gathering that speaks volumes about how our regional community is coming together through the power of music.  Speaking as a second-year return attendee, Bill Melendy, local artist and reggae music enthusiast said, "Fiesta de la Luna surpassed all expectations for excellence.  All the bands were the best I've ever seen them.  The services and hospitality was top notch.  I'll definitely be back next year."

Another second-year return attendee, Cher Bailey offered high accolades, "Over a three-day period of music and fun, Kristen and Damien (festival team leaders) ran the event like a well-oiled machine."

Bailey, who is a local land lord and lifetime festival goer, added, "I was delighted with the festival, and it was clear that everyone had a great time.  We all know that next year will be even better than ever."

Coordinators are planning for the 2007 Fiesta de la Luna Music Festival.  Early registration and sponsorship opportunities will be available soon.  See the official Fiesta de la Luna festival website at www.rootskankadelic.com to receive email announcements.
