Reception Celebrates Opening of Three Exhibits at Erie Art Museum

Erie, PA, October 19, 2006 --(PR.com)-- The Erie Art Museum will host a free evening reception for Museum members and the general public on Friday, Oct. 20 at 8 p.m. to mark the opening of three new exhibits throughout the Museum’s galleries.

“Outside the Center/On the Edge” will open in the Main Floor Gallery and features art by 15 artists working in outside of Pennsylvania’s urban centers (Pittsburgh and Philadelphia). The exhibit also features work by six artists currently working in or originally from Northwestern Pennsylvania.

Another local artist, John Lysak will be on hand for the opening of his Annex Gallery exhibit “Duality: A Digital Dialogue.” In this exhibit, Lysak’s works involve digitally photographing or scanning images he finds in books, media, films and television, which are then cropped, distorted and layered together to re-contextualize the content. The Frame Shop Gallery show “Boundaries: Book Arts From the Traditional to the Experimental” will also have its reception on Oct. 20.

The reception is a one-night-only event, but exhibits will be on display for weeks to come. The Erie Art Museum is open Tuesday through Saturday 11 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Sunday 1 p.m. – 5 p.m. Admission is free to all every Wednesday. For an exhibit schedule contact the Erie Art Museum or visit online at www.erieartmuseum.org.
