accessaphone™ ipTTY, a SIP Based Text Application That Supports TTY is Now Compatible with Key Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager 5.2 (R015x.02.0.947.3)

Lafayette, LA, January 15, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Tenacity Operating, LLC, (“Tenacity”) a leading accessibility innovator, today announced that its accessaphone™ ipTTY 2.0.1.1 is compliant with key Avaya Aura™ Communication Manager 5.2 (R015x.02.0.947.3) and Avaya Aura™ SIP Enablement Services 5.2 (R015x.2.0.947.3) solutions from Avaya, a leading global provider of business communications applications, systems and services.

accessaphone™ ipTTY helps businesses save money because end users are afforded the opportunity to communicate via TTY at any endpoint within a qualified network without the need for additional analog lines, modems, or other equipment and barriers traditionally associated with TTY communications. Additionally, ipTTY provides a much easier way for service providers and customers to comply with the rules of Section 508 of the Rehabilitation Act as well as other laws put forth for the disabled community. The program communicates through IP and uses standard session initiated protocol (SIP). This soft client enables virtually every user on the telephony network to communicate with customer TTY machines, without the need for text relay service. ipTTY also supports communication via audio and real-time-text via RFC 4103. The application now is compliance-tested by Avaya for compatibility with: Avaya Aura Communication Manager 5.2 (R015x.02.0.947.3) and Avaya Aura SIP Enablement Services 5.2 (R015x.2.0.947.3).

“Compatibility and certification of accessaphone™ ipTTY was effectively achieved thanks to the streamlined Avaya DevConnect compliance process and the quality engineers,” said Susan Chappell, President, Tenacity. “With ipTTY, Avaya customers can expand their communication options to include TTY and real-time-text using their existing Avaya infrastructure.”

Tenacity is a member of the Avaya DevConnect program—an initiative to develop, market and sell innovative third-party products that interoperate with Avaya technology and extend the value of a company’s investment in its network.

As a Gold member of the program, Tenacity is eligible to submit products for compatibility testing by the Avaya Solution Interoperability and Test Lab. There a team of Avaya engineers develops a comprehensive test plan for each application to verify whether it is Avaya compliant. Doing so ensures businesses can confidently add best-in-class capabilities to their network without having to replace their existing infrastructure—speeding deployment of new applications and reducing both network complexity and implementation costs.

“By offering compliance testing to the many innovative companies like Tenacity who are members of our DevConnect program, Avaya promotes fully interoperable solutions that help businesses unleash powerful new possibilities,” said Eric Rossman, vice president, developer relations and technical alliances, Avaya.
