In order for the volunteers to maintain skill levels, the training required is similar to and in some cases more stringent than paid career departments and follows the guidelines of the National Fire Protection Association-NFPA.

The members recognized this year have demonstrated a high level of skill proficiency and dedicated hundreds of volunteer hours to train and respond to rescues.
