Matt Smith Named Director of Business Development for Hardin Construction

Raleigh, NC, January 21, 2010 --( Tom Booth, vice president and general manager of Hardin Construction Company (, has announced that Matt Smith has been named director of business development for Hardin’s Raleigh office where he will work to secure commercial construction opportunities throughout North Carolina. A lifelong Raleigh resident, Smith has 15 years of experience building relationships in various markets including higher education, commercial construction and general contracting.

Active in the local community, Smith is a member of the N.C. State University Young Alumni Council, the Triangle YMCA property and facilities committee, the United Minority Contractors of North Carolina marketing committee, the Carolinas chapter of the Association of General Contractors of America, the N.C. Economic Developers Association and Apex United Methodist Church.

- Smith earned his bachelor’s degree in business management from N.C. State University then spent nearly 12 years working in a variety of alumni and fundraising positions at the university before finishing as executive director of development for the College of Management, N.C. State’s business school.
