Panasonic TX-P 50 G 10 Reviews Published by Televisions.com

International reviews website Televisions.com has today published its review of the Panasonic TX-P 50 G 10 plasma TV. The site also offers reviews, news, and background articles for the projector and Blu-ray player markets.

Edgware, United Kingdom, January 22, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Televisions.com has reviewed the Panasonic TX-P 50 G 10 using a combination of subjective picture-quality evaluation and laboratory analysis with high-tech measuring devices. The review awards the Panasonic an overall rating of 8.1 out of 10 points, highlighting features such as the universal tuner, high contrast ratio, and accurate 24p reproduction. But the review is not without its criticisms - loud cooling fans, high power consumption, and weak de-interlacing all earn a spot in the review's “Why We Grumbled” section. Overall, the site recommends the TV for the home cinema in particular - Televisions.com's editor-in-chief, Florian Friedrich, said: "You get a lot for your money with the TX-P 50 G 10 - the only major weakness is the average-to-poor de-interlacing."

The review discusses the TV’s multimedia functionality, which, according to Televisions.com, isn't one of the G 10's strong points. Operation also gets a mention, with praise going to the remote control's ease-of-use and the responsive on-screen menu. The review then examines the TV's picture quality in detail for both standard- and high-definition signals, praising the appearance of TV signals in both resolution classes. With DVDs, the reviewers noticed line flicker in movies without a progressive flag, for example, and some flicker also caught their eye in their test Blu-ray "Casino Royale". Contrast, on the other hand, strongly impressed the review team: “We’ve never before recorded such lofty contrast ratios in this price range. Thanks to rich blacks and crystal-clear differentiation in dark areas, even night-time scenes show impressive depth."

The review rounds off with criticism for the TV's built-in speakers, before offering users a list of calibrated settings designed to optimise the TX-P 50 G 10's performance in a dark home-cinema environment. One reviewer summarised: "In Televisions.com's 'Top TVs' section, the 50 G 10 ties fourth place with its smaller brother, the TX-P 42 G 10, and is therefore also the highest-rated plasma we've ever reviewed - this comes as no surprise, given the excellent features and gorgeous home-cinema pictures."
