Gieves & Hawkes Reveals the Spring Summer 10 Menswear Collection Preview

The new Gieves & Hawkes Spring/Summer 2010 collection of the finest tailored garments was revealed with great acclaim to the press on 3 November at the flagship store, 1 Savile Row.

London, United Kingdom, January 28, 2010 --(PR.com)-- With the champagne flowing and the scent of lilies and mimosa filling the room, a full turnout of fashion press eagerly viewed the new menswear collection, hailing it both jaunty and bold, with a fresh, youthful colour palette.

With an emphasis on stylish travel attire, this tailored menswear collection is for the modern traveller and is inspired by functionality, craftsmanship, luxury and imagination. The season is about layering luxurious items and building a wardrobe of key pieces, for travel across the globe.

The collection is split into five themes, from the Gentlemen’s Wardrobe, perfect for a weekend away in the English countryside where the jacket is the key item, moving further afield in the European Tour with a relaxed old-school elegance. The Global Traveller employs bold, vibrant colours and checks suitable for both business and pleasure, while the Iberian Weekend brings the wardrobe into early summer, celebrating the warmer weather with light cottons and men’s fine knitwear. Finally, melt into high summer with a Mediterranean Retreat range, featuring cool, unlined linen jackets and trousers with silk blends.

Fabrics are key, with a black chintz linen jacket being the star of the show, reflecting the light, adaptable yet stylish wear typical of this menswear collection. There was also much interest in bold Prince of Wales Check double-breasted suits, to be found in the European Tour collection, which have been woven in the finest wool and silk blend.

Overall the pieces were met with a resoundingly positive response from the journalists gathered, with one commenting that the collection is very strong with fresh colours combined with beautiful and bespoke men’s tailoring. The collection will be appearing in stores across the UK from 30 January 2010.

Drawing on a formidable heritage of design and craftsmanship, combined with modern styling, innovation and precision engineering, a bespoke suit from Gieves & Hawkes remains the ultimate sartorial investment.

In addition to the luxury of the bespoke service, Gieves & Hawkes now offer two further options. Personal Tailoring blends together the finest ready-to-wear procedures with the flexibility of the bespoke offering, while the Ready-to-Wear collection presents customers with the convenience of buying a beautiful garment off-the-peg.

Gieves & Hawkes Made to Measure tailoring suits service enables to personalise suits with a choice of style, cloth, detail and lining colour. The result is a piece that fits perfectly, in the customer’s preferred fabric and with features that really define him as an individual.

The process of a Made to Measure tailored suit begins with a consultation with one of the personal tailoring specialists. They take a full set of measurements in order to give a higher degree of flexibility than regular sizing, and help customers choose from a selection of over 600 fabrics and linings to create something unique. Made to Measure suits are available in full or half canvassed options.
