Austin Art Space Announces 49 Winners in ‘For the Love of Art” 5th Annual Juried Show, February 8-27, 2010

Austin, TX, January 29, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Austin Art Space announced the selection of art work to be featured in its fifth annual ‘For the Love of Art’ show running February 8-27, 2010. The traditional event is a juried exhibition and sale featuring the artists’ varying interpretations or representations of love. Love inspired a wide range of work from abstract to contemporary to traditional. Pastel, oil, watercolor, acrylic, mixed media, photography, encaustic, clay, and concrete are among the media included. The theme and timing coincide with Valentine’s Day, offering art as both sentiment and gift of love.

The final 49 art pieces were chosen from over 200 entries from artists as near as Austin and Wimberley to Dallas, Ft. Worth, Houston, and El Paso to as far away as Tennessee and California. In all, works by 37 different artists were selected for presentation. The pieces range in size from a dominating 30 by 60 inches to a diminutive 6 inches. The juror this year was Beryl Kerwick, an acclaimed Texas artist and instructor whose water media, oils, and acrylics are collected throughout the United States.

Valerie Walden, co-founder and director of Austin Art Space noted, “This exhibit continues to grow in popularity, but this year was a huge jump in the both the number and diversity of entries. The variety of media and the breadth of styles make it an especially interesting show. Love has many forms.”

All patrons are invited to attend the Artists’ Reception on Friday, February 12, 2010 from 6:00pm-9:00pm. Wine, cheese and Dripping Springs vodka will be served and many of the artists are expected to be on hand to discuss their work. Ms. Kerwick will award a Best of Show at that time. Many of the pieces will be offered for sale. The exhibit continues during regular gallery hours, ending on Saturday, February 27.
