Local Artist’s Work Chosen for Exhibit in North to South Juried Competition

Raleigh, NC, January 31, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Vinita Jain (www.vinitajain.net), a local artist specializing in acrylic and pastel painting, has announced that her painting titled “Fire in the Sky” will be on display at the First Annual North to South Juried Competition from Friday, Feb. 5 until Thursday, Feb. 25, taking place at the Green Rice Gallery, located at 451 E. 36th St. in Charlotte. Competition winners will be announced at the opening reception on Friday, Feb. 5 at 8 p.m. Jain created the painting in soft pastel.

About Vinita Jain:
A native of India, Vinita Jain has lived in North Carolina for more than 10 years. As a child, art was a passion of Jain’s, and she was first introduced to pastels when she came to N.C. Jain took courses in drawing and color theory at Meredith College and since has taken pastel workshops from renowned artists. Influenced by impressionists such as Edgar Degas and Vincent Van Gogh, Jain works mainly with soft pastels but has recently begun working with acrylics.
