eG Innovations Extends Industry’s Only Single Agent Monitoring & Management Technology as Part of New Release of its Enterprise Service Management Software

Unique single-agent technology can now be installed and configured faster. New release also has improved monitoring dashboard, enhanced reporting, broader infrastructure coverage and greater interoperability.

Iselin, NJ, October 25, 2006 --(PR.com)-- eG Innovations, a global provider of business service monitoring and triage solutions for IT infrastructures, announced the general availability of version 3.2 of its eG Enterprise Management Suite. The new software allows IT organizations to “do more with less” in a number of critical operational areas, thereby extending eG’s measurable price/performance competitive advantage in the enterprise service management software market.

The new software strengthens eG’s industry-first single agent technology and also includes enhancements in key areas such as performance reporting, real-time monitoring, support of a broader set of leading industry applications, such as Citrix and SAP; and tighter integration with multi-vendor network management systems.

The eG Enterprise single agent technology provides unsurpassed price/performance benefits because of its one-agent-fits-all-needs capabilities. A single agent license can be used to monitor any of the operating systems supported by eG Enterprise. Furthermore, over 80 different applications and network platforms are supported by the single agent, and no knowledge modules or special-purpose plug-ins are needed to monitor individual applications. The single agent license is also valid for multi-processor systems; i.e., the same single agent architecture can be used for monitoring a 4-way, 8-way or other server configuration.

New with version 3.2 is a Remote Agent Controller, which allows the eG agents to be distributed, installed, configured and controlled on hundreds of servers from a central location. Once deployed, the agents can be upgraded automatically from the eG Enterprise console. This saves considerable time and reduces errors compared with the manual processes normally required.

“The single agent eG technology simplifies the deployment, configuration and maintenance of the monitoring solution,” said Srinivas Ramanathan, President & CEO of eG Innovations. “It offers tangible cost benefits in complex, n-tier enterprise and service provider networks, where customers need to be able to dynamically reconfigure their application tiers and yet have the flexibility to re-use the same agents for monitoring.

“The single agent approach enables the eG Enterprise Suite to automatically baseline hundreds of metrics, correlate across infrastructure tiers and provide precise root cause analysis of IT infrastructure problems,” said John M. Worthington, an industry consultant with MyServiceMonitor LLC and a former eG Innovations customer. “eG Enterprise has delivered rapid return on investment based on our hands-on experience using the product in service management applications, and dramatically accelerates the IT staff’s shift to a service paradigm at the same time. We recommend that enterprises looking at tools to enable IT Service Management think about the case for service-oriented monitoring as a first step along that journey.”

Real-Time Monitoring, Reporting and Interoperability Enhancements

The eG monitoring dashboard, used to display real-time alerts and facilitate problem analysis, has a new look with version 3.2. An improved at-a-glance display allows affected infrastructure areas to be identified faster, thereby accelerating the triage process across infrastructure tiers and further reducing downtime.

Reporting enhancements include the ability to view the performance of hundreds or thousands of servers in a consolidated report, rather than on a per-server basis. This allows IT staff to quickly assess all facets of performance across their enterprise, a critical point of knowledge for capacity planning and resource utilization. Additional reporting on top metrics as well as customized reports for Citrix environments is also part of this release.

Improved interoperability with external management systems along with broader infrastructure monitoring coverage is also provided under eG Enterprise Suite version 3.2. Customized models and monitoring capabilities have been added for SAP R/3 and the Netweaver platform, and for the Juniper Netscreen firewall/VPN devices. Other improvements apply to Citrix, WebSphere and Oracle environments. Windows event log monitoring now applies to security logs, so all log-in activity on Windows servers can be tracked to comply with Sarbanes-Oxley requirements.

eG Enterprise Management Suite version 3.2 is available now. Representative pricing for the small enterprise suite starts at $50,000 for covering multiple servers, and regardless of the number of CPUs, applications and operating systems that may be installed.
