Egress Switch Automates Secure Data Exchange

By Automating Workflow Egress Switch Makes Sharing Sensitive Information Easy.

London, United Kingdom, February 10, 2010 --(PR.com)-- To meet an increasing demand for protection and control of shared information, Egress Software Technologies announced today the availability of Egress Switch 1.7. This latest version incorporates features that simplify workflow when sharing information by email, CD/DVD, or uploaded to the Web.

Data security remains a top table issue for businesses around the world however data loss continues to grow at an alarming rate. Research indicates that the percent of data breaches attributed to third parties has grown to 33 percent and are 20% of the most costly to recover. To address this challenge Egress Switch enables businesses to mitigate risk and share information securely by maintaining complete visibility and control at all times.

Highlighted new features include:

· Customisable Data Exchange Mechanisms (DEMs)
Egress Server Infrastructure (ESI) has been enhanced to support customisable data exchange mechanisms (DEMs). Using the Egress Web Portal, FTP or HTTP Web Servers can be centrally defined by Administrators and ‘pushed’ to end users enabling ‘single click’ large file transfers to be easier than ever.

· Streamlined User Workflow
A sophisticated policy engine designed to automate user workflow has now been integrated into the Egress Server Infrastructure (ESI). This enables Switch Administrators to enforce security policy transparently, removing any possible margin for error when sharing sensitive information.

· Centralised Auditing
Egress Server Infrastructure (ESI) has been enhanced to support the ability to audit outbound content online in real-time. Using the Egress Web Portal, Administrators can track and revoke information sent by email, CD/DVD, or uploaded to FTP/HTTPS Web Servers.

· Optimised Upload Performance
To maximize bandwidth availability the Egress Switch Client has been modified to enable advanced users to configure upload settings to allow multiple concurrent file transfers.

· Improved Usability
Expanding on their ‘one click’ mantra to sharing information securely, CD and DVD encryption is now easier than ever. With a fresh look and feel and increased support for all optical media types, Egress Switch protects CDs and DVDs shipped in the mail once and for all.

“Our customers continue to tell us that encryption is only part of the solution. Only by maintaining visibility and remaining in complete control of your data can you be sure that information will not be mishandled,” said Tony Pepper, CEO for Egress Software Technologies. “Switch is uniquely positioned in the market, both with its data-centric security offering and a flexible Software-as-a-Service model.”

Egress Switch allows an information owner to package sensitive information using strong AES 256-bit encryption and to send it to a recipient using any familiar method such as an email attachment, CD or DVD, copied to a USB stick or transferred through the web or FTP. The owner can then set or change security policies independent of the package through a service in the cloud. Security policies can include authorising recipients and limiting recipient use of protected information. Changes to security policies can be made in real time, even after the information is sent or shared. This allows a user to “pull information back” if it needs to be recalled.

Egress Switch also offers a complete view of when the information recipient has opened or used the shared information, as well as unauthorised access attempts, providing an important audit trail. The owner can then easily track activity of their shared information through logs arranged by package or recipient.

Egress Switch version 1.7 is available immediately for the most widely used operating systems, XP, Vista, and Windows 7. For more information and pricing on Egress Switch or to download the software, visit www.egress.com.
