Antonio Pierce of the New York Giants Scores Big with New Jersey Students in Visit to Giants Stadium

New York, NY, October 27, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Antonio Pierce of the New York Giants scores big with New Jersey Students in visit to Giants stadium for Giants/Tampa game on October 29, 2006.

The Giants Academy, a charter academic program located in the Louise A. Spencer school in Newark, NJ was created by the New York Giants in September of 1994. This cooperative effort between the New York Giants and Communities in Schools was created as a heightened learning environment for 6th, 7th, and 8th graders who are designated as “at risk” students. The program consists of approximately 50 students and focuses on improving math, reading, leadership skills, as well as social skills.

In 2006, Antonio Pierce started “Antonio’s A-List” at Giants Academy. Antonio’s A-List is a motivational incentive program that will reward Giants Academy Students that reach certain academic standards each semester and for the entire school year. Antonio will make regular visits to the Academy throughout the year to check on the kids’ academic performance. In Pierce’s recent visit, he had the opportunity to meet with the students individually to discuss their interests, goals and provided tips on what keeps him motivated to succeed.

The Giants Academy is one of the many programs Pierce is involved in, as he believes it is his duty as a professional athlete to set an example to young people. Growing up in the rough streets of Compton California, and succeeding despite all odds has given Pierce the insight he needs to help these youth tackle life’s challenges.
