NBC New York Segment, "Too Much Nip/Tuck?" Features Book, Chasing Beauty on 2/9/10

New York, NY, February 11, 2010 --(PR.com)-- On 2/9/10 the NBC New York segment, "Too Much Nip/Tuck?" featured author Laura Pillarella, 'Cosmetic Surgery Addict,' and author of Chasing Beauty.
The segment is similar in focus to the TODAY segment featuring Chasing Beauty--a warning to women against approaching cosmetic surgery with impunity.

Chasing Beauty is a story of how and why an ordinary young woman surgically rearranged her entire face before age thirty-six. The book and the NBC segment illustrate irrational feelings that all women hurt by our beauty culture surely feel... but perhaps cannot express to loved ones or to themselves.

Born to uninvolved parents, author Laura Pillarella developed into a lonely girl with a voluptuous figure but a plain face. Attention to image both inside and outside of home suggested to her that her attractive body made an object of her. Through cosmetic surgery, she wanted a beautiful face to make herself into a person: one worthy of love, and of social survival.

After learning about Pillarella's mistakes women will hopefully understand that the answer to, Who Am I? isn’t found from a scalpel.

"People will change their minds and not their faces because you wrote this book!" writes one Chasing Beauty reader.
