Coral Springs, FL, February 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- SAT Preparation Group, a South Florida company based in Parkland that specializes in coaching students how to succeed in the classroom, on the SAT test, and in life, partnered with International College Counselors to present “The Ultimate SAT and College Admissions Seminar” to a group of Broward County high school students and their parents on January 27, 2010.

At the presentation, which was held at Heron Bay Commons Clubhouse in Coral Springs, Florida, Steve Kirshenbaum, CEO of SAT Preparation Group, Coral Springs, FL, gave a twenty-minute presentation to attendees on how to get the best possible results on the SAT. He included eight test-taking secrets such as the best time to begin preparing, the best time to take the test, the intent of the test writers (deception and trickery), the three ultimate success factors, endurance through practice, and the disadvantages of large classes. He also discussed five proven study skills including a daily review and do, a specific study ”to-do” list, and creating an empowering environment in which to study for the SAT. All of these hints were aimed at helping students score as highly as possible on the SAT.

Mandee Heller Adler of International College Counselors, one of South Florida’s leading college advisors, then presented on topics such as how to discover the best school and program for your child by considering factors such as academics, housing, scholarships, food, social atmosphere, transportation, athletics, and safety; how to differentiate your college application (via geographies, academics, legacy, minority status, athletics, special talents or interests, etc.); the basics of financial aid and scholarships, including Bright Futures, 529 accounts, private scholarships, and the Florida prepaid plan; and the importance of extracurricular activities, summer plans, and community service—be true to your student’s interests, going deep versus broad, what summer programs make an impact, and whether a job is a good idea.

After their presentations, Adler and Kirshenbaum held a question-and-answer session for participants.

“We both spend our professional lives preparing South Florida’s students to go to and excel at college,” commented SATPG’s Steve Kirshenbaum. “We were pleased to be able to share some of our expertise—gleaned from years of working with college-bound students taking the SAT, searching for the right school, and slaving over their college applications—for free with some local students and their parents in Broward County. These days, not everyone has the funds to pay for a full SAT preparation course, SAT coach, or college advisor, so we wanted to give back to the Coral Springs community and help those students who might not otherwise have had access to this valuable information.”

South Florida’s International College Counselors was voted “Best College Advisor” by the Miami Sun Post. Mandee Heller Adler, Founder and Principal of International College Counselors, is a graduate of Miami Beach Senior High and the University of Pennsylvania, where she graduated with Honors and two degrees: one from the Wharton School and one from the College of Arts and Sciences. Mandee Heller Adler also received an MBA from Harvard Business School, where she was selected as a Class Day Speaker. Additionally, Adler received a fellowship from Rotary International and studied at ICADE, a premier business school located in Madrid, Spain.
