Kane County and Metro Chicago Real Estate Market Enjoyed 2nd Half Home Sales Rebound in 2009; RE/MAX Remained County's Residential Leader

Elgin, IL, February 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Kane County, Ill., home sales rose 66 percent during the last six months of 2009 when compared to the first half of the year and were 23 percent higher than in the last half of 2008, while RE/MAX remained the home sales leader. In the seven-county Chicago real estate market, home sales in the last six months of 2009 increased 23 percent compared to the same period a year earlier, while for the full year home sales in the metro area were up a more modest 1.5 percent.

Home sales in Kane County rose from 1,556 during the first six months of 2009 to 2,581 in the final six months. Home sales in the county fell slightly for the year from 4,070 in 2008 to 4,037 in 2009, a decrease of less than 1 percent.

RE/MAX agents accounted for 1,084 or 26.9 percent, of all residential listings sold in Kane County during 2009 making them number one in that category, according to Midwest Real Estate Data, LLC (MRED). RE/MAX agents also led in buyer representation, assisting buyers with 923 transactions, or 22.9 percent.

RE/MAX also retained its leadership in total transactions closed in Kane County, representing either the buyer or seller in a total of 2,007 transactions, or 24.9 percent. The next four firms in the total transaction category are Coldwell Banker (11.3 percent), Baird & Warner (8 percent), Century 21 (5.8 percent) and Prudential (4.8 percent).

Since 1989, RE/MAX has led the metropolitan Chicago residential real estate market based on closed sales volume. In 2009, RE/MAX agents listed 18.9 percent of all homes sold in the seven-county Chicago real estate market, a larger percentage than any other real estate organization.

The top five real estate organizations in Kane County during 2009, in terms of attached and detached residential listings sold, were RE/MAX with 1,084 (26.9 percent), Coldwell Banker with 498 (12.3 percent), Baird & Warner with 343 (8.5 percent), Prudential with 187 (4.6 percent) and Century 21 with 183 (4.5 percent). Data maintained by MRED may not reflect all real estate activity in a specific market area.

For the same time period, RE/MAX agents led Kane County in buyer representation, closing 923 (22.9 percent) of all sales made of listed homes in 2009, topping Coldwell Banker with 412 (10.2 percent), Baird & Warner with 306 (7.6 percent), Century 21 with 287 (7.1 percent) and Prudential with 201 (5 percent). RE/MAX remained the market-share leader in buyer representation across the metropolitan Chicago real estate market during 2009, completing 16.4 percent of all buyer transactions.
