M2 Optics Inc. unveils the OTDR Sidekick, a compact and rugged module used as an OTDR launch box, fiber optic delay line, and for other short distance testing and training applications.

Raleigh, NC, February 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- M2 Optics Inc., a leading provider of packaged optical fiber for test and measurement, announced the release today of a new product for short length applications. The OTDR Sidekick is a compact, rugged test box useful to engineers and technicians maintaining fiber optic networks, as well as anyone requiring a short length of fiber (up to 1km) for testing procedures.

The Sidekick will be used primarily as a “launch box” or “pulse suppressor”, which eliminates blind spots at the beginning of a fiber cable when testing using an Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer (OTDR) instrument. In addition to this application, the Sidekick can also serve as a fiber optic delay line, or useful for training & education.
