California DanceArts Announces Summer 2010 Dance Programs

Los Angeles Dance Studio Gears Summer Programs to Fit Needs of Area Dance Students

La Canada, CA, February 18, 2010 --(PR.com)-- California DanceArts (http://www.caldancearts.com) has released its lineup of summer 2010 dance intensives and workshops for a wide variety of dancers at all levels. The lineup includes The Los Angeles International Ballet Intensive, the Youth Ballet Intensive, the Dancers Delight Day Camp, and the Fairy Tale Ballet program. California DanceArts has geared their programs to cover the needs of dancers at all levels, with auditions being held on Saturdays at noon from February 29th to March 13th.

For many student dancers, the beginning of the year is not too early for them to be thinking about how they will be spending their summer. This is the time when dance studios across the country begin the audition process to sign up students for summer workshops and programs.

For intermediate and advanced dancers the studio is again offering their annual Los Angeles International Ballet Intensive, which has routinely drawn students from around the globe to train with an internationally-renowned faculty of professional dancers including Roberto Almaguer, formerly principal dancer with the National Ballet of Cuba, and Rachel Bowman, who has performed aerial ballet with Laine Theater Arts in England, among others. The three-week program, running from July 5-24, focuses on development and growth, immerses students in an intense workout that gives a comprehensive study of classical and contemporary ballet including pointe, variations, partnering and various other modes of dance.

Erin Holt, Director of California DanceArts explains “We find that students are looking for new creative experiences, and I find the ones who have always participated in our programs value discipline and are very eager to work with a faculty of instructors from such diverse backgrounds who themselves emulate the professionalism these students hope to achieve. Some students are looking for extra attention to get to the next level in their training, some are interested in pursuing a career or enhancing their career. I think it’s important to put together a dance program that fulfills these various needs. The faculty should be encouraging and help students gain technical improvement and performance artistry.”

Dance schools must not forget younger dancers who are working to move up to a higher level of proficiency, and to help these future dancers, California DanceArts offers a Youth Ballet Intensive, a more moderate version of the International Ballet Intensive, for students twelve and under, from July 5-23.

Because a portion of any dance school has more beginning students who are not yet focusing on a career or are taking dance for fun, California DanceArts offers a two-week Dancer's Delight Day Camp and for the youngest dancers, a Fairy Tale Ballet Camp, exclusively for children 3-7 years of age who are not quite ready for a full day of camp. Each program and intensive culminates into a final performance, giving students a chance to show their progress and even display some of their own choreography.

Since 1987, California DanceArts has been dedicated to the purpose of grooming and nurturing the talents of beginning to serious career dance students. The school has established a reputation as a career preparatory school for dancers transitioning to the professional level. Its current location in beautiful La Canada is nestled among several schools and recreational facilities. The school provides three large studio spaces featuring sprung floors designed to prevent injury, 20-foot high ceilings geared for unobstructed jumping, wall mirrors and air conditioning. Director Erin Holt also runs California Contemporary Ballet, a dance troupe that puts on several original ballet productions per year, including the Snow Queen (www.snowqueenballet.com), an original ballet with an original music score. This show is put on every December and recently completed its 12th season. More information on California DanceArts 2010 summer dance workshops can be seen at www.danceallsummerworkshops.com.
