Madison, OH, July 25, 2005 --(PR.com)-- At first glance, Amber Taylor-Pengov’s emotionally captivating book, The Woodcarver’s Hand, is a tale about love, family, true friendship and deception. But, looking deeper, one can find the major theme that reverberates throughout the entire story--the pursuit of one’s true purpose in life.

In the book, a young woman named Gail is faced with this daunting challenge after the death of her grandfather. She must strike out on a personal journey to confront deep-rooted secrets from her past in order to discover who she is and what she is meant to be.

On this long, perilous journey she meets a helpful stranger, who has his own share of dark secrets to contend with. Together, they must search deep inside themselves to overcome their own personal battles.Pengov has overcome a few battles herself. After beginning to write the book in college, she stopped to focus primarily on work and family. “I never thought I would have the chance to finish the book,” said Pengov, thinking it wasn’t something she was meant to do. However, a tragic turn of events would soon motivate her when her father was diagnosed with esophageal cancer--the same threatening disease that claims Gail’s grandfather in the book. “The one thing my father wanted before his death was to see his children be all that they could be,” says Pengov. “I then knew it was my opportunity to follow through with my passion.”

That is the inspiring message behind the book--following one’s passion and purpose in life. “I believe that it is extremely important for others to discover who it is they are meant to become in life, not to please others,” Pengov explained. She added that it is important for people “to understand their capabilities so that others can see that no matter how bleak the situation, there is always hope.”

Overall, Pengov hopes readers will “grow with the characters and come to gain their own internal strength to see they are not alone in this world and strive to be all they are meant to be.”To schedule an interview or to learn more information about The Woodcarver’s Hand and Amber Taylor-Pengov, please visit www.outskirtspress.com/AmberTaylorPengov.
