Animators' Club Announces New Animated Film Festival in Kansas City

The Midwest Association of Professional Animators plans to hold annual film festival in the spirit of "Fantasia."

Kansas City, MO, February 27, 2010 --(PR.com)-- New animators club in Kansas City hopes to carry on Disney legacy with Kansas City’s first animated film festival.

Tentatively scheduled for the fall, Classic Flash will be a series of animated shorts set to instrumental music with a maximum length of 10 minutes.

“Walt Disney started right here with Laugh O’ Gram Studios. This is where Fantasia was born,” says club organizer Dylan Dietz, “We believe animation is in Kansas City’s blood.”

Midwest Association of Professional Animators, or MAPA, club members include working artists in Missouri and Kansas. They aim to provide mentorships to aspiring designers and animators.

The club only has a Facebook group now but organizers have scheduled their first meeting in late March. A logo and website design competition will be among their first group activities.
