Los Angeles, CA, March 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Customer Poll Uncovers Encrypted Email Dilemma – RPost Solves with Simple-to-Use Service

Now Includes Proof of Encrypted Delivery to Protect from Fines in HIPAA Compliance Audits

RPost, the leader in value added outbound messaging, announced today an email encryption service upgrade that addresses key findings from a poll of companies that are subject to heightened HIPAA data encryption rules.

The informal poll of 400 small, mid-sized, and large companies in the insurance, legal and financial sectors uncovered the most common dilemma users, compliance officers, and IT departments face when deploying secure encrypted email services, and concluded that many secure email systems are too cumbersome, resulting in less use and therefore, potentially more exposure to a downstream data breach. RPost’s upgraded patented service delivers email encryption with end-user simplicity coupled with proof of encrypted delivery for HIPAA compliance, protecting users against potential fines; all packaged with an e-discovery module to facilitate production of encrypted records if required.

First generation ‘public key infrastructure’ email encryption products, while elegant and secure, were reported to be too expensive to manage on corporate networks due to user ‘key’ management and legal e-discovery considerations. Second generation ‘store-and-forward’ systems typically send a web-link to a web-portal and the recipient is then requested to click-to-come-and-get the email, log-in and download the information that the sender wants them to see. RPost’s poll found that less than 50% of recipients clicked on links to download files rendering the delivery status of the email unknown which often led to the sender re-sending the information un-encrypted. As Jason Baltazar, vice president of information technology at Bolton & Company, an Assurex insurance broker summarizes, “...in the past, we were using an email encryption service that would require the recipient to click-through to a website to collect their email. Bottom line, people didn't do it, rendering our previous system virtually worthless.” Further, those that do click-to-download email have no record of message content after the service provider’s short ‘holding period’ for the email ends. “Now, with RPost's encrypted email service, we have both proof of delivery of the encrypted email right to their mailbox, with further proof of compliance with security and privacy requirements, all with a high response rate as there are no extra steps for the recipient.”

RPost’s poll validates the need for encrypted email services that are simple to use, simple to deploy, and more importantly, that provide proof that their correspondence was encrypted end-to-end in case of a HIPAA compliance audit.

“The real challenge with email security is keeping the user experience as simple as standard email while also managing the system,” remarks Zafar Khan, CEO of RPost. “Regulations require that systems are managed to monitor who uses it, when, and with what decryption passwords, to maintain the capability to prove correspondence was encrypted, and to be able to decrypt records in e-discovery situations. RPost solves this with its patented secure encrypted email upgrade that users are reporting as the best that they have seen on the market.”

SecuRmail™ by RPost is a third generation encryption service that provides end-to-end encrypted delivery for email message body text and all attachments, with straight-through delivery to the recipient’s inbox. The service also offers optional auto-delivery of decryption passwords, the ability to reply encrypted, provides court admissible records proving compliance with security requirements, and e-discovery management for decryption of litigation-related email evidence. RPost offers email encryption in a service package that includes Registered Email® legal delivery proof and eSignOff® electronic contracting services. RPost has 25 patents issued with worldwide coverage.

“Simply put, RPost works. Very nice indeed,” states Jon Leech, development director of Butcher Robinson Staples in a video-case-study.
