Greater Frederick Advertising Federation’s Annual ADDY Awards to Benefit Heartly House

Honoring the best creative work from the area’s marketing and advertising professionals and students, the ADDYs are the first of a three-tiered national competition through the American Advertising Federation. This year’s ADDYs will be held Thursday, March 11 at the Weinberg Center for the Arts in downtown Frederick. The event is open to the public and tickets can be purchased on the ADDYs website (http://gfafaddyawards.com).

Frederick, MD, March 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The ADDY Awards are the Greater Frederick Advertising Federation’s biggest event of the year – literally the “Oscars” of the local advertising world. And with the GFAF celebrating their 20th anniversary in 2010, this year’s ADDYs are going to be bigger than ever.

How is this year’s show going to be bigger? Think big hair, big shoulder pads, and big accessories as the GFAF throws back to 1989 with the theme of “Straight Up.” All attendees are encouraged to embrace the spirit of the late 80s and early 90s. (Think “no” to the little black dress and “yes” to the lace and leather.)

Also in commemoration of the GFAF’s 20th anniversary, its Board of Directors decided to pair each event with a public service initiative. Throughout the month of March and during the ADDY Awards, the GFAF is accepting donations for Heartly House.

Heartly House is the only agency in Frederick County that provides comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence, sexual assault, and child abuse. Monetary and tangible donations (gift cards, clothing, household items, food, and personal care products) are always welcome.

Donations can be brought to the ADDYs or dropped off anytime (Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm) at Jean Peterson Design, 6 North East Street, Suite 200 in downtown Frederick. For more information, including a complete list of wished-for items, please email Lisa Gorham, GFAF public service director, at lisa@jeanpetersondesign.com.

Also celebrating an anniversary this year (its 30th) Heartly House is holding their annual “Affair of the Heart” event on Friday, March 19 at Holly Hills Country Club. For tickets event details, and more information on Heartly House, visit their website at www.heartlyhouse.org.
