Web based TV reviews and feedback platform, Televisions.com has today published its review of the Sony KDL-46 X 4500, a 46 inch Full HD LCD TV available since autumn 2008. The website also features rich resources in the form of background articles, latest TV news and reviews from leading experts and user feedback.

Edgware, United Kingdom, March 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The expert team at Televisions.com harnessed all its experience to review the Sony KDL-46 X 4500 combining objective laboratory instruments and comprehensive subjective analysis. The KDL-46 X 4500 earned an above average 8.4 points on a scale of 10 in the “Editor’s Rating” category on Televisions.com. The test team was impressed with the excellent colour matching, high contrast, energy efficiency, excellent sound and accurate 24p signal reproduction even from signals at 60i/p. The only area that needed improvement according to the review was the overt dependence on viewing angles and a blurry picture via 576i/p. Florian Friedrich, Televisions.com’s editor-in-chief said: “The Sony KDL-46 X 4500 impresses all around with excellent colour matching, high contrast and low power consumption.”

The later part of the review goes on to describe the features of the KDL-46 X 4500 in detail. The multimedia capabilities satisfied the reviewers as the presence of a digital media port allowed the connection of iPods or other mp3 players. The functions of these players could then be controlled from the interface from the TVs remote control. Photo playback of JPEG files and mp3 music is also possible via a USB storage device with the Sony 46 incher rendering best in class picture quality in term of image playback. The test team was most impressed with the backlighting which was based on RGB LEDs providing local dimming to add blacks to dark areas of the picture. Also an extensive array of colour intensity adjustment controls provides joy to the expert user. The review states that although the menu design is lavish and seems a bit complicated to begin with, once the viewer is used to the Playstation 3 style design, it is a breeze to use. Sony TVs lives up to its legacy of providing state-of-the-art features in the form of an illuminated remote control, excellent pre-sorting in channel lists and a clearly laid out Electronic Program Guide (EPG). The most accurate picture is rendered in the “Cinema” preset followed by deactivating the noise and DRC filters and setting MotionFlow to “Clear”. Analogue as well as digital signals provide exceptionally good pictures except in the case of 576i/p signals arriving via the HDMI port which induce blurring. Configuring DVD players to scale their output to 1080 line signal can be a remedy for this issue. The power consumption on an average is around 100 Watts for everyday use. The Sony RGB-LEDs produce particularly pure colours and Blu-ray movies are a heavenly experience on the KDL-46 X 4500. Clear speech and broad stereo effect for music provide for an enjoyable sound from the side-mounted speakers. The review then provides a set of ideal settings for the TV that were derived by the test team at the in-house test theatre for displaying HDTV/Blu-ray signal via an HDMI interface in darkened environments. Friedrich said: “The Sony LCD TV provides an excellent picture owing to LED backlighting and with excellent sound, this 46 inch Full HD LCD TV is a good buy.”
