Thousand Oaks Philharmonic Announces Open Auditions for Soloists for 2010

First High School Honors Piano Performance Seminar Attracts 20 Gifted Artists.

Thousand Oaks, CA, March 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Thousand Oaks Philharmonic (www.tophil.org), a non-profit organization founded to give local young artists a unique professional performance experience, announced open auditions to fill remaining soloist positions for the 2010 season. Auditions will take place on Sunday, March 21st at its Recital Hall in the Paseo Marketplace, 3749 E. Thousand Oaks Blvd., Westlake Village. In addition, the Thousand Oaks Philharmonic welcomed 20 students at the first meeting of its High School Honors Piano Performance Seminar, an elite five month program that gives students an opportunity to learn from and perform for some of the classical music community’s most talented and influential musicians.

Auditions
The 2010 season auditions are open to student vocal and instrumental performers from the greater Ventura County area, including Agoura Hills and Westlake Village. Students may register by sending an application to tophilharmonic@gmail.com. Any piece for instrument or voice and orchestra is acceptable repertoire for the audition. Auditions are currently scheduled to begin around 2:00 p.m. More formal scheduling will be forwarded once applications are received. Applications must include name, instrument, address (both postal and email) phone, age, school attending and the name of the current music teacher. Music teachers in the area are invited to register their eligible students as well. There is a $30.00 registration fee for each audition. Applications must be received by March 15. High School Honors Piano Performance Seminar
Each session in the High School Honors Piano Performance Seminar focuses on a different aspect of piano performance, including an individual and team scholastic quiz competition; The Classical Style in Piano Performance; Preparing Auditions and Applications for Music Schools; the Art of Accompanying; The Importance of Choosing Good Editions; and “In the ‘Cue,” Playing With An Orchestra, all culminating in a gala concluding seminar recital. The sessions are supported by acclaimed music professionals.
