iGavel Auctions is pleased to present their online auction of ‘Fine Art from iGavel Associates, Estates and Other Owners.’ The auction will take place through March 23rd at iGavelAuctions.com.

New York, NY, March 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This auction includes over 260 lots of paintings, drawings, works on paper, and sculpture. A highlight includes an important Southwestern painting by the American artist Laverne Nelson Black (1887-1938).

Laverne Nelson Black was born in Viola, Wisconsin, in the Kickapoo River Valley. His interest in art came early, when he mixed pigments with local earth and plants in order to draw. When his family moved from Viola to Chicago, Black’s access to art supplies improved; studying at the Chicago Academy of Art, Black distinguished himself among his classmates and won a scholarship after his first year. At the Academy, Black studied painting, illustration and sculpting, all of which he would go on to use in his long and varied career.

The Fine Art Auction currently on iGavelAuctions.com, includes artwork from artists throughout the world. In this auction is a work by Frans Mortelman a Belgian painter whose dates are 1865-1936. His painting is of a Floral Still Life. Other international artists represented in this sale are: Camille Pissarro (1830–1903) Mixed Media Pen and Ink and Watercolor, an Allen Tucker, entitled The Derricks, a George Rouault, Aquatint, and a Clases Oldernburg lithograph. There are 14 signed Mark Chagall posters for sale in this auction, at affordable prices, illustrating that this auction has something for every collector.
