Institute for Church Safety and Risk Management Selects Insurance Executive and Ordained Minister to Lead Newly Established Northern California Church Safety Roundtable

The Institute for Church Safety and Risk Management (ICSARM) has announced the establishment of the Northern California Church Safety Roundtable based out of the Eureka, California area. ICSARM continues to grow nationally and is excited to announce their newest addition to their Church Safety Roundtable program.

Tupelo, MS, March 14, 2010 --(PR.com)-- During the past several months ICSARM’s Executive Director Michael Boutot has been conducting various church interest polls and has held national teleconference calls with over twenty leaders in the church safety, security and risk management arena. The result is the announcement of launching this new initiative of local Church Safety Roundtables. “We are excited about the opportunity to expand our presence across the United States and Canada with the advent of these new Church Safety Roundtables” said Boutot.

“With the selection of Jim Durkin as our chapter president for Northern California” states ICSARM founder and executive director Michael Boutot, “we believe we have a candidate that has the passion for the local church as a pastor, but also the business acumen of understanding church risks and exposure.” Boutot continues, “We believe Jim brings a unique balance to the church safety roundtable program and are looking forward to exciting things out of northern California through his efforts.”

Jim Durkin is an ordained Independent Charismatic Minister having been ordained in 1973. During that time Jim has served in a variety of ministerial positions including Youth Pastor, Associate Pastor, Senior Pastor, Regional General Overseer and Developer of Church Leaders. He has also served as past president of two ministerial associations, and a board member and advisor for several Para-church organizations including the local chapter of Women’s Aglow. After two church plants in his local area, Jim is presently ministering to and with a network of house churches.

In addition to his pastoral role, Mr. Durkin is currently working as an insurance broker for Penfold-Leavitt Insurance Agency Inc. out of Eureka California. He began his career in insurance nine years ago working for another agency as a personal lines property and casualty broker/agent. Approximately a year and a half ago Jim developed a division within his agency to focus on churches and related ministries.

Jim is in the process of enrolling in Newburgh Theological Seminary in their masters program. He married Celeste in 1972 and they have two daughters, one son and three granddaughters. Currently Jim and his family live in Eureka, CA.

“Over the course of my lifetime I have seen our nation digress from an amoral society to one that is openly hostile towards Christians. This hostility is often directed towards Churches and its members” states Durkin. Jim goers on to say “Ministry responsibility does not end with providing spiritual direction; it now includes seeing to it that our Churches remain a place of safety on every level. I am excited to be a part of ICSARM and the various opportunities it will provide to assist Churches in fulfilling the challenges they face.”

With over 600,000 ministers and over 400,000 churches reported in America and a growing concern over church safety and security, churches and church leaders are looking for opportunities to ensure they are providing a true safe environment for all their church members. The local Church Safety Roundtable provides membership for local churches as well as safety and security service providers to those local churches. Local meetings include discussion on best practices to what to select for proper insurance coverages to what security system is best for a particular church. In addition to providing education and training for local churches, the Church Safety Roundtable is also designed to evaluate service providers to local churches to make sure the best service provider is being selected by the local church and at the best rates.
