Tampa Bay Business Journal Recognizes Highland Homes’ Scott Shapiro

Tampa, FL, March 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Highland Homes is pleased to announce that Scott Shapiro, the Chief Financial Officer for the central Florida home builder, was recently selected as a finalist for the CFO of the year by Tampa Bay Business Journal.

The Tampa Bay Business Journal hosted a luncheon on Thursday, February 25, 2010 to announce the twenty finalists for the coveted CFO of the Year award, as well as the winner. The event was held at the Quorum Hotel in Tampa and was attended by more than 400 people. The finalists were presented with a plaque and received recognition for the hard work, dedication and results achieved in 2009. Shapiro was recognized as a finalist in the category of Large Businesses.

Highland Homes owners, Bob and Joel Adams, were present to show their support for Shapiro, and they heralded him for Highland Homes being a thriving builder in Central Florida.

In the current Florida real estate market, most independent builders have closed their doors due to the decrease in home sales. Highland Homes, on the other hand, has seen positive growth and sales for the past two years, due primarily to Shapiro’s efforts in restructuring the company's land holdings. Shapiro was rarely seen in the Lakeland, Florida corporate office, because he was always behind closed doors managing the assets in order for the company to thrive in a down market.

Shapiro has spent the last 19 years in homebuilding and “Big Four” public accounting, with a proven track record in financing, financial management, reporting, budgeting, treasury management, operations, business strategies and development.

The entire company is thankful and appreciative for having Scott on the team and is excited about the upcoming year.

Highland Homes is instrumental in the local, regional and national marketplace for new home builders. They are also setting the pace for another remarkable year and this is obviously a remarkable company looking forward to 2010. Founded in 1996, by Robert J. and Joel Adams the vision of Highland Homes was established with a commitment to excellence and family values. Dedication, strong leadership and personal commitment have made Highland Homes the largest homebuilder in Polk County. Highland Homes has proudly maintained these virtues ever since.
