)-- Notable players who joined in the poker action were defending champion Ilija Martinovic, Rudolf Fourie, Melanie Banfield, Bennie Lingenfelder and Thomas Pays but unfortunately were all sent to the rail on Day 2. However Neil Andrew’s made all poker celebrities proud by making it to Day 3 and placing 30th.
Martie Faber was the last standing lady exiting in 14th place receiving a Samsung sponsored cellphone whilst All Africa Poker Commentator David Dadic bubbled in 11th position but banked R70,000 for his efforts. The poker room erupted in applause as the following players made it to the AAPT Final Table : Daren Kramer, Nicolas Sissou, Gilbert Basilio, Conrad Coetzer, Miguel Milheiro, Ray Rahme, Deon Anthony, and Andre Rheeder, Mauro De Rose and Meshern Govender,
In the end , it was Darren Kramer and Conrad Coetzer who went head to head for the championship. Kramer was the chip leader with a 5,210,000 chip stack versus Coetzer’s 1,510,000. In the third hand of the heads up match Coetzer moved All-In with J,9 which was called by Kramer who showed A,7. The Flop brought 9,7,Q which put Coetzer ahead. The Turn was a Q but it was the River, an A which sealed the deal and paired Kramer’s Ace.
Darren “Kingkramer” Kramer prevailed victorious and has entered the AAPT record books as he joins only two other players to have won two AAPT titles, Peter Vermas and Chris Convery.
Darren Kramer know also holds the record for winning two major Piggs Peak Casino Million Rand tournaments back to back when he took first place in another Million Rand tournament on the 1st of March 2010.
