Local Artist, Laurie Green, to Appear at Spoleto Festival

Spoleto representatives just confirmed that local artist, Laurie Green, will display her recent exhibit entitled "Collective Exhibition: In Reverence of Reverie" at this year's festival.

Charleston, SC, April 21, 2010 --(PR.com)-- About Laurie Green:

Laurie Green has created a body of work that rejoices in brilliant colors and bold, powerful forms. There is a playful quality to her art in both its style and experimentation with media that add a particular immediacy to the imagery. In either mixed media collage or acrylic paints Green creates organic portrayals of sweeping landscapes, restless cities, and thoughtful figural studies. The handling of paint plays a central role in each piece, impasto brushstrokes and rhythmic patterns contrast with washes and layers of color, as drips and splatters allow each work to evolve a distinctive character. Travel has also placed its mark upon her work, while taking up yoga has given her painting a new spirituality and produced a more uninhibited and vivacious approach. Her former studies of textiles in Spain can be observed in the creating pattern and intriguing combination of bold colors and lines.

Born in South Carolina, United States, Laurie Green received her law degree in 2008. Recently, she performed human rights work in the Democratic Republic of Congo. She is now pursuing her Master of Laws degree while also preparing another collection of paintings. Ms. Green is represented by Low Country Relations.
