Woodworkers Unite to Fight Cancer for the American Cancer Society

Phoenix, AZ, March 19, 2010 --(PR.com)-- TheWoodWhisperer.com is proud to announce the 1st Annual Woodworkers Fighting Cancer event to support the American Cancer Society. Throughout the month of March, Wood Whisperer Guild members will be embarking on the first ever online “Guild Build”. The project that more than 100 members are making is a simple Shaker end-table. For every Guild member who builds the end-table and submits a picture, The Wood Whisperer, aka Marc Spagnuolo, will donate $5 to the American Cancer Society. Even those who are unable to join in the Guild Build can donate to the cause simply by visiting http://woodworkersfightingcancer.com "This isn’t just about woodworking as a job or hobby, its about woodworking as a lifestyle, and woodworking as a Community," said Spagnuolo. "I want people to be inspired by what our woodworking community is doing, and perhaps even contribute to the cause themselves."

Woodworkers Fighting Cancer is designed to be an energized grassroots effort with a mission to raise awareness and money for the American Cancer Society. This event is being held in honor of fellow woodworker, Duane Moore, who is battling prostate cancer. All profits generated will go directly to the American Cancer Society to promote new research and to eventually find new cures and treatments.

To date the website has raised over $2,800 in individual donations. Matching corporate sponsors include Festool, Rockler, American Eagle, Lie-Nielsen Toolworks, WoodWerks Supply, Laguna Tools, Bell Forest Products & Micro-Jig.
