Judge Geary Kull Declared Winner in 9th Subcircuit Race

Judge Geary Kull remains the declared winner in the race for Cook County's 9th Subcircuit after runner-up Abbey Fishman-Romanek conceded the race on Monday, March 15. Fishman-Romanek had pursued a discovery recount after Judge Kull won the February 2 primary by 48 votes.

Chicago, IL, March 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Judge Geary Kull remains the declared winner in the race for Cook County’s 9th Judicial Subcircuit, Otaka vacancy. The result, though official, had been delayed while the runner-up, Wilmette resident Abbey Fishman-Romanek, pursued a discovery recount. On Monday, March 15, after the recount had been completed and scrutinized, Fishman-Romanek graciously conceded the election to Judge Kull. In the February 2 primary election, Judge Kull led Fishman-Romanek by 48 votes, which prompted her to ask for the discovery recount. With Fishman-Romanek’s concession, Judge Kull now looks toward the general election on November 2.

Judge Geary Kull currently sits as a full circuit court judge in Cook County, having been appointed by the Illinois Supreme Court. In the race for the 9th Subcircuit, Kull was rated most highly qualified and found wide support from the legal community as well as from his hometown of Evanston.

“I continue to be humbled, honored, and inspired by the support and effort given me by the people of the 9th Subcircuit. I vow to continue to be worthy of their trust,” said Judge Kull when reached for comment.
