Serengeti Contributes to Creation of New ACC Value Index

Attorney evaluation exchange built on established Serengeti methodology.

Bellevue, WA, March 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Serengeti Law announced today that it has received a patent for an innovative solution to one of the most common problems faced by corporate legal departments – keeping information current in their systems that track legal work. The patented technology, which is an integral part of the Serengeti Tracker e-billing/matter management system, ensures that outside counsel maintain current information that is required by their corporate clients. Other legal management systems offer no such safeguards, leaving in-house counsel with incomplete and unreliable legal management reports.

By contrast, Serengeti’s unique solution works by notifying outside counsel when specific information—such as case plans, budgets, periodic status updates, and exposure estimates—are required by the client for a specific project, and then systematically secures timely compliance by processing bills for that project only if the required information is current. As a result, outside counsel keep required information up-to-date in Serengeti and, in exchange, their invoices are delivered immediately to the client for online approval.

“This milestone recognizes two unique characteristics that have made Serengeti the most widely used system for managing legal work worldwide,” said Tom Melling, Serengeti’s head of Product Management. “First, Serengeti connects in-house counsel directly with all of their outside counsel in one online environment. Second, Serengeti combines e-billing and matter management functions to effectively enforce clients’ requirements for up-to-date information.”

“As outside counsel for many different corporate clients on Serengeti, we appreciate how it helps us give our clients what they need at no cost to our firm,” said Carol K. Dillon, Partner at Bingham McCutchen LLP. “In Serengeti, client expectations are presented clearly, and we have a convenient way to respond—which is why we often recommend Serengeti to our corporate clients.”

“With Sarbanes-Oxley and other growing reporting regulations, it is important for us to have access to accurate and timely information,” said Mike Kolloway, Assistant General Counsel for Operations for AECOM Technology Corporation. “We have previously used internal systems for tracking legal costs and budgets; however, Serengeti allows us to obtain information directly from our outside counsel. It also allows us to review any deviations from established budgets and provides our attorneys other effective tools for managing complex legal matters. We have found that Serengeti has improved the manner in which our outside counsel communicate with us, which has proven beneficial for both parties.”
