)-- John Paul Schultz, a 13 year old Sparta resident who plays the Ukulele, was awarded the Player of the Month Award by Bill Wright’s Guitar Studio in Sparta NJ on Tuesday. JP received a signed certificate, a copy of which was placed on the wall at the studio, and a gift certificate which he used towards the purchase of a new Ukulele at the studio.
JP started taking Ukulele lessons at the studio last year. According to his instructor, Bill Wright, "JP is really getting good on the Ukulele, he has been learning some very challenging Jazz numbers as well as Rock songs like Little Wing and While My Guitar Gently Weeps". JP even performed with Bill at the Andover Presbyterian Church on 3/13 to a packed house at their make your own taco night. One of the highlights of the night was JP's performance of "The Coffee Song". JP plays both the Soprano and Concert Ukuleles. According to Bill, "The Ukulele is the fastest growing instrument in the country right now and we have seen a steady rise in Ukulele Lesson sign-ups and Ukulele purchases here at the studio".
About the award, studio owner Bill Wright said, “The Player of the Month award is a program designed to reward our students for their hard work and enthusiasm. Each month or so, one of our instructors will select a student to receive the honor.
