Zephyr Announces Support for Citrix XenApp 6

Zephyr is pleased to announce support for the recently released new Citrix® XenApp™ 6 with its PASSPORT suite of products.

Houston, TX, April 03, 2010 --(PR.com)-- PASSPORT is Windows 7, Vista-ready and XP compatible terminal emulation software that securely connects Windows and web browser users to applications running on IBM System z (Mainframe), IBM System i (AS/400), and UNIX/Linux/OpenVMS (VT) systems.

Citrix XenApp™ is the de facto standard for centralizing applications in the datacenter and delivering them as an on-demand service to both physical and virtual desktops. XenApp 6 offers major new enhancements that simplify computing for IT, including easier central management, enhanced enterprise scalability and seamless integration with Microsoft technologies like App-V and Windows Server 2008 R2

Available now, Zephyr considers Citrix XenApp 6 an ideal platform for managing PASSPORT client licenses. Many Zephyr clients already utilize Citrix solutions for centralized, on-demand application delivery, regardless of user location.

Publishing PASSPORT from Citrix XenApp 6

PASSPORT PC TO HOST® can either be published as accessed from the server or streamed to a client. When published from the server, the application is virtualized and streaming is equivalent to installing on each client desktop.

Whichever method is selected, PASSPORT can be deployed to hundreds or thousands of end-users within minutes. Licensing can be simply controlled and with our competitive costs, organizations can reduce their costs considerably when replacing other terminal emulation packages such as Attachmate's EXTRA!, IBM Personal Communications or Micro Focus' Rumba.

Other benefits for PASSPORT users with Citrix XenApp

Secure Gateway

The Citrix Secure Gateway for Windows helps to secure access to enterprise network computers running Citrix XenApp and provides a secure Internet gateway between Citrix XenApp and client devices. The Secure Gateway transparently encrypts and authenticates all user connections to help protect against data tampering and theft.

All data traversing the Internet between a remote workstation and the Secure Gateway is encrypted using the Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) or Transport Layer Security (TLS) protocol. The Secure Gateway is an application that runs as a service on a server that is deployed in the demilitarized zone (DMZ).

The server running the Secure Gateway represents a single point of access to the secure, enterprise network.

If PASSPORT is streamed to the desktops, PASSPORT offers host session security with SSL/TLS, SSH, FIPS 140-2 compliance etc.

Single Sign-on

Citrix Single sign-on (formerly Citrix Password Manager) provides password security and single sign-on access to Windows, Web, and terminal emulator applications running in the Citrix environment as well as applications running on the desktop.
