Monster Energy Sponsors Halfpipe Competition at Largest Snowboard Competition in the Country. Big Names Invited.

Copper Mountain, CO, April 04, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The United States’ biggest and most prestigious amateur national snowboard event – the USASA National Championships – will have a decided Monster Energy flare as the nation’s No. 1 by-volume energy drink joins forces with the organizers of the April 3-9th competition snowboard blowout to host the inaugural Monster Mash Invitational pipe jam at Colorado’s Copper Mountain (April 7th).

The centerpiece of the week-long snowboard contest at Copper, the Monster Mash All-Star Invitational Pipe Jam features 12 of the amateur-to-pro ranks graduates from USASA competitions’ past, including:

* Danny Kass
* Louie Vito
* JJ Thomas
* Chad Otterstrom
* Steve Fisher
* Matt Ladley
* Brennen Swanson
* Zack Black
* Dylan Bidez

Final 3 riders TBA

The starting lineup will also include an invite to the winner of the Men’s Open Superpipe final at the USASA Nationals.

“An amazingly strong fit,” said Monster Energy rep Cody Dresser on Monster’s aligning with the USASA with this alumni pipe jam. “Amateur snowboarding in the United States owes a lot to the USASA and these athletes, including Monster’s own Danny Kass and Louie Vito, that came up through the USASA competitions represent the success stories that our young, up-and-coming snowboarders are working hard to achieve themselves."

“There’s a very good chance a future world snowboard champion will be in the crowd, watching Danny and Louie perform, getting stoked and thinking to him or herself ‘That’s gonna be me someday.’”

Furthering those thoughts while whipping the crowd into a frenzy as he calls out the above-the-lip antics of the aforementioned athletes (and a few more to be named here soon) will be Monster Energy’s Luke “Dingo” Trembath. The guy to have on the mic when a legion of top pipe masters is assembled for a session, Dingo will have 1,500 of the Nation’s top amateur snowboarders going crazy when the Monster Mash Invitational tips off.

“Both Monster and the USASA are at the core of snowboarding,” says Dingo. “Without the pressure of a World Cup title or Olympic medal on the line, plan on seeing these USASA alumni straight up destroy Copper’s pipe. Kids’ll watch and learn and the guys riding are gonna be pumped to give back to the sport they’ve got much out of.”

Monster Energy will throw down with a bit of philanthropic incentive too as they have put $5,000 on the line – which will be donated by Monster in the winning rider’s name – to the USASA.
