Austin, TX, April 06, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Valerie Walden will pack-up and paint outdoors in Historic Downtown Marble Falls, TX as a participating artist in the 5th Annual Paint the Town Plein Air Event hosted by the Uptown Marble Arts Alliance April 16-18, 2010. Over 50 artists have been juried into the event.

Ms. Walden will set up her easel on Friday morning, April 16 and paint through Saturday afternoon, April 17. Collectors are invited to attend and watch Ms. Walden and the other artists work. Awards will be presented at a reception for the general public Saturday evening featuring wine and hors d’oeuvres. The 6:30 pm reception marks the beginning of a silent auction of the paintings produced at the event. Ms. Walden will also have some previously produced paintings available in the event tent, and will be on hand during the reception to discuss her work.

This year’s awards judge is V… Vaughn, a well-known plein air painter who has painted all over America. Her recently published book: “Last Year on the Farm, A Story of Change” features excerpts from 365 daily paintings en plein air. On Sunday, April 18, Ms. Vaughn will host a gallery talk and book signing at 1:00 pm. The silent auction officially ends at 3:00 pm that day, when patrons make pick up their paintings.

Ms. Walden said, “I love painting en plein air. I regularly paint with group at Wenmoh Ranch and I’ve studied with renowned plein air artists Scott Christensen of Idaho and Bob Rohm of Texas. The atmosphere will be festive. And, with 50 artists painting at once, the energy will be palpable. I look forward to creating in Marble Falls.”

The Paint the Town event typically draws thousands of patrons and interested parties over the course of the weekend. Admission is free and food and refreshments are readily available. More information at http://uptownmarble.com/paintthetown.html.
