Examine the Beauty of Form in Marcio Pilot’s Photographs Altered States of Reality at Agora Gallery

Agora Gallery Presents Marcio Pilot in Altered States of Reality

Chelsea, NY, April 16, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Chelsea’s Agora Gallery will feature Brazilian artist, Marcio Pilot, in Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography. The exhibition is scheduled to run from April 16, 2010 through May 07, 2010 (opening reception: Thursday, April 22, 2010).

Photography by Marcio Pilot is a salutation to color, movement, and pure human drama. The dance of bodies is etched across the photograph, while beautiful garments fan out to display a wealth of hues and patterns. Invigorating our senses and stirring our soul, Pilot’s imagery overpowers our balance as our eyes are compelled to dash across the picture plane. His art becomes an experience, not about a destination but a journey of rhythms that celebrate the cultural pathways of dance, theater, fashion, and storytelling.

Working with other subjects, Pilot’s sensitively crafted nude studies and portraiture artfully examine the beauty of the human form itself. Compelling individuals are drenched in magnificent lighting as their features and poses speak volumes without uttering a word. "I believe very much in the infinite possibilities that human body allows through the lens," he states. "[To] shoot dancers is one of my passions." Pilot exhibits his photography frequently and has works in collections around the globe from Brazil to Beijing. He lives in Campinas, Brazil.

Consumed with exploring our world as they uniquely see it, the artists in Agora Gallery’s “Altered States of Reality: an Exhibition of Analog and Digital Photography” use a myriad of visual vocabularies and technologies. Differing in method, these artists share in the passionate quest to articulate the moments often ignored in everyday life. Influenced by Surrealism and Abstractionism alike, these artists boldly investigate their psyches and natural surroundings. The results, at once harmonious, perplexing and alluring, take us on an inspirational visual journey.
