Gallery KH is pleased to present A Chance of Sun, a sumptuous and lush collection of new impressionistic landscapes by artist Gary Bowling, opening April 16 through June 2, 2010. An opening night cocktail reception is scheduled for Friday, April 16th, 5-8PM. All gallery events are free and open to the public.

“Gary Bowling’s work evokes true impressionistic style melded with a fresh American landscape. The results are clean, crisp compositions filled with an abundance of color and life. A subject as simple as a plowed field or a pond’s edge are revived as bucolic visions through Gary Bowling’s point of view. Bowling is a true American landscape painter in every sense,” says Kristen Hagan, Gallery KH Co-Director.

For Bowling, landscape painting evokes a solitary association with a certain place. He rarely incorporates figures or animals into his compositions because he feels they immediately point to a narrative regarding what that figure is doing there. Bowling strives to excite in the viewer a vivid impression of personal involvement with the ambiance and emotion of his landscapes.

States Bowling, “I find my subjects in light filtering through a windbreak, demarcations separating public and private property, early morning stillness, and patterns that contrast natural with human cultivation. In some ways, a finished piece is a record of my attempt to make visible an essence that seemed just beyond reach when I began.”
