High School Students to Research, Design and Build a 1941 Willys Coupe All Electric Hybrid.
Minnesota resident John Hodnefield (plugnplay.2bike4life.com), has submitted a grant proposal through the Pepsi Refresh program to begin a pilot project called “PlugNPlay.”
The Pepsi Refresh Program (www.refresheverything.com/plugnplay) has approved a proposed educational grant for PlugNPlay. In order to win the grant – PlugNPlay must be in the Top 10 of the popular vote.
Who can vote? All legal residents of the United States residing in one of the 50 United States or the District of Columbia who are 13 years of age and older.
Participants can vote for up to 10 of their favorite ideas every day.
PlugNPlay is designed to offer high school students a chance to showcase their talents and interests in a wide range of subjects including: journalism, photography, business, team leadership, project management, public speaking and many others.
High school students will participate in the research, design and build of a 1941 Willys Coupe All Electric Hybrid. This hybrid will investigate battery technologies, wind, solar and motion as power sources.
The students will also be asked to create ‘manuals’ and a K-6 program to encourage younger students to learn about recycling and renewable energy solutions. Students will help manage a composting and recycling center as well as work with local and national magazines to educate their communities.
BestPrep (www.bestprep.org) will help with the student and educator recruitment. BestPrep is a statewide, nonprofit organization with a mission to best prepare Minnesota students with business, career and financial literacy skills through experiences that inspire success in work and life.

The Pepsi Refresh Project, a groundbreaking effort to foster innovation in social good, will award more than $20 million this year to fund great ideas that refresh the world.
