Dog Ear Publishing Releases Thriller That Shows Seaside Community’s Seamier Side - Book by Nancy Mcgovern

This spirited novel set in Mexico explores human nature and the natural world as its heroine searches for a way to work through loss and disappointments in life after the suicide of her brother.

Tucson, AZ, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- This spirited novel explores human nature and the natural world as its heroine searches for a way to work through loss and disappointments in life. Jackie buys a cabin in Mexico to escape the memory of her brother, Marty, who 18 months earlier took his own life when the effects of chemotherapy ravaged his body. She buys a cabin from Mr. Tibbetts, a career government man with troubles of his own, with hopes of changing her life, which is in a “state of suspension.”

Jackie and Marty’s best friend, Todd, have a series of adventures centered on the cantina, the heart of the seaside community, and the locals who patronize it. Dodging drug dealers, the “knapsack man” who may be spying on them and fending off romantic entanglements with residents is a full-time job for these two. Things take a serious turn when police arrive on the scene after a shootout at the cantina that kills one man and leaves another seriously injured.

Rescuing an injured horse – and perhaps her spirit at the same time – is just one of Jackie’s many achievements. Spirit on the Water, by Dog Ear Publishing author Nancy McGovern, draws readers in with its compelling character sketches and detailed descriptions of the Mexican landscape. The novel will intrigue readers right up until the poignant final words.

McGovern, who grew up near the sate of Sonora, Mexico, is currently working on a new novel and a collection of her published poetry.
