Children’s Book Unites the Easter Bunny Tradition with the Gospel of Matthew - Book by Jean McCurdy Meade, Released by Dog Ear Publishing

In this new children’s release, Dog Ear Publishing author and Episcopal priest Jean McCurdy Meade unites the tradition of the Easter Bunny and Christ's resurrection by telling the story of a special rabbit named Rebekah, the first living creature to see Jesus when He arose from the dead.

New Orleans, LA, April 17, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Where does the story of the Easter Bunny come from? What does Christ’s resurrection have to do with a rabbit that brings joy to children on Easter Sunday? In this new children’s release, Dog Ear Publishing author and Episcopal priest Jean McCurdy Meade unites the two traditions by telling the story of a special rabbit named Rebekah, who is the first living creature to see Jesus when He arose from the dead.

The Tale of Rebekah Rabbit begins outside Jerusalem, where little Rebekah is awakened by a strange trembling in the earth. Curious as only a bunny can be, Rebekah slips out of her burrow to investigate and she encounters a man more beautiful than any other human being she has ever seen. Rebekah is usually afraid of humans, but when she looks at this man she realizes that she knows Him and He knows her. After the Risen Christ blesses her and disappears into the garden, some women arrive at the tomb. Just then an angel appears and rolls away the stone. Rebekah is able to “tell” the astonished women that the angel’s message is true -- that He really is there in the garden, and that they can see Him too.

The Tale of Rebekah Rabbit is beautifully illustrated by Barbara Hosterman Clark. Children love animals and they will respond to this special retelling of the Gospel of Matthew by a little bunny. What better way to introduce children to the amazing story of Jesus? Author Jean McCurdy Meade has given Christians a way to unite the legend of the Easter Bunny with the truth of the Gospels.
