Influence Skills for Non-Sales People

Innovative e-Learning Program Combines New Book with Streaming Video

Atlanta, GA, November 17, 2006 --(PR.com)-- Management Psychology Group e-Learning announces an online version of the book Influence for Impact: Increasing Your Effectiveness in the Organization as a three-hour streaming video. The program was developed to address one of the most frequent skill gaps of people in high level executive positions and in fast-track developmental programs. Although conventional wisdom leads us to assume that most successful executives possess strong skills of persuasion, Management Psychology Group (MPG) psychologists have observed that roughly half of the people in high level and key individual contributor roles need help with soft skills. A major reason for derailment in executives is a gap in the soft skill areas of emotional intelligence (EQ), influence and persuasion. This is a unique way to address this need. It explores the foundations of success in organizational work, the characteristics of successful persuaders, the general laws of influence, organizational survival skills and practical strategies for harnessing research-based findings on influence and persuasion.

This e-Learning program grew from an earlier adaptation of Dr. Golson’s book for an AT&T executive development program. According to Dave Dorman, former CEO of AT&T, “I've always found MPG's methodologies to be professional, valid, useful and cost-effective. Dr. Golson’s book, Influence for Impact, is a natural offshoot of their work and offers valuable insights and practical suggestions. I strongly recommend this book and video instruction to anyone who must work with people in organizations.”

In addition, Bob Miles, author and CEO of Corporate Transformation Resources notes, "Dr. Golson has developed and clearly articulated a simple but comprehensive guide to personal influence and hence, effectiveness in organizations that is grounded in solid research and his extensive practical experience. He has created an essential handbook for leaders at all levels in organizations."

Influence for Impact is one of several interactive online courses from the MPG e-Learning Center. Although it was developed for high level and fast-track executives, the principles are universal and the training is applicable for anyone who wants to increase his or her ability to persuade and influence others. It has been described as “sales training for non-sales types.” More information about the program – to include a demo chapter – is available at www.influenceforimpact.com.
