American InterContinental University Names Navy Veteran and Seasoned Educator as Director of Military Relations

American InterContinental University, a military-friendly university providing quality education to career-focused students, announced the appointment of Navy veteran Richard Kennedy as the director of military relations. In his new position, Kennedy will lead the AIU military relations department to better serve its military population and create stronger partnerships with all branches of the armed forces.

Hoffman Estates, IL, April 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- American InterContinental University, a military-friendly university providing quality education to career-focused students, announced Richard Kennedy as the director of military relations.

In his new position, Kennedy will lead the AIU military relations department to better serve its military population and create stronger partnerships with all branches of the armed forces. Kennedy understands the unique needs of military students and veterans as a veteran himself. He served in the Navy as a Lieutenant Commander overseeing an Educational Service Office, where he coordinated both afloat and ashore college education programs in accordance with the Navy’s College Program for Afloat College Education.

"My experience with the military and in education helps me understand the unique needs of AIU's military-related students, which is a significant portion of the school's population," said Kennedy. Along with his military experience, Kennedy comes to AIU with a wealth of knowledge in a number of fields including education, marketing and business. He gained classroom experience teaching at Columbia College Chicago in the marketing communications department. He also has worked at Abbott Laboratories and CMC Inc., serving in marketing and training functions.

Kennedy earned his bachelor’s degree at Marquette University and holds an M.B.A. with a concentration in marketing from Loyola University in Chicago.
