Moorestown NJ Painting Contractor, Painting Solutions Inc., Trained in New EPA Lead Paint Standards

In compliance with April 2010 new lead paint regulations, Painting Solutions Inc., a leading South Jersey painting company, has undergone certification training for safely handling lead paint in clients’ homes.

Moorestown, NJ, April 23, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Painting Solutions, Inc., a leading NJ painting and home improvement contractor, has recently undergone certification training required by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) for safely handling lead paint in structures built before 1978.

The training requirements are in response to new federal laws established by the EPA which require contractors to complete certification training on maintaining a lead-free environment for work on all residential and commercial projects. As of April 2010, only certified contractors will be legally permitted to work on pre-1978 homes and commercial buildings.

Contractors who have undergone the certification training are educated on how to prevent lead dust and chips from being dispersed during sanding and painting preparation. According to Bruce Tuttle, President of Painting Solutions, Inc., the regulations help to protect homeowners, especially young children and pregnant women, from the dangers of lead paint.

“Lead dust and paint chips are much larger problems than the asbestos issues that we have been controlling for the past few decades. By requiring professional painters and contractors to undergo certification training, the EPA is working to protect the environment and individuals from being adversely affected,” he reports. “Homeowners should be aware of whether or not a contractor has been certified before hiring that contractor for renovations.”

Tuttle warns NJ homeowners that in addition to safety concerns, there are serious legal issues that come with the new regulations.

“Not only are contractors who are not certified putting families at serious risk for lead paint exposure, but they face a hefty fine of $32,000 for violating the new laws. Real professionals are committed to continuing their education and maintaining legal certifications and compliance,” Tuttle says. “If you need accounting, you look for a CPA. If you need electrical or plumbing work, you look for a licensed contractor. Short of these, you get what you pay for. The same guideline applies to painting contractors.”
