Doreen Poreba Wins Communicator of the Year Award

PR Veteran Honored by Her Peers

Stuart, FL, April 30, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Treasure Coast Chapter of the Florida Public Relations Association (FPRA) has named Doreen Poreba Communicator of the Year in the for profit category.

Poreba, founder and president of The PR Czar® Inc. in Stuart, received the award on April 22 at FPRA’s annual Image Awards and Communicators of the Year Gala. A panel of judges representing the Treasure Coast Chapter made the selection, which was based on Poreba’s community impact and work results.

Frank Valente, president & CEO of the Humane Society of the Treasure Coast, nominated Poreba for this prestigious award. “We would like to congratulate Doreen on receiving this coveted recognition from her peers,” said Valente. “Doreen has been a valued partner at our Humane Society, constantly going above and beyond to support our mission. About Doreen Poreba
Doreen Poreba’s impact on the community can be measured by both her professional career and her voluntary efforts. She first came to Florida in 1981 as an on-air reporter with WPEC-TV 12, the ABC affiliate at the time in West Palm Beach, and since then has served in various capacities on both sides of the media fence as a journalist, photographer and an accredited public relations professional. She served as SunFest’s marketing and public relations manager for seven years before founding The PR Czar® Inc. in 1997. This full-service PR agency serves a diverse client base representing corporations, small businesses and nonprofit organizations.

Poreba has represented fields that include arts & entertainment, banking & finance, environmental, education, healthcare, home and home design, festivals & special events, media, real estate, retail, and sports & leisure. The client base spans both Palm Beach County and Florida’s Treasure Coast, and the company also has worked with clients based in areas that have included Alaska, Colorado, Massachusetts, New York, Vermont and Canada. As the recipient of more than 50 awards, she has been recognized by FPRA, International Festivals & Events Association, Florida Festivals & Events Association, Women in Communications and Audubon of Martin County.

Poreba has worked with notable PR clients since founding her business and despite a challenging economy, her PR business has continued to grow by consistently attracting new clients. In January, she was awarded a contract to handle public relations for the Arctic Consortium of the United States’ (ARCUS), based in Fairbanks, Alaska. In addition to her PR work, Doreen is a regular features writer and photographer for Palm Beach Gardens Lifestyles Magazine, Hobe Sound Magazine and Tequesta Magazine.

Poreba has served on numerous boards and committees of nonprofit and professional organizations and is an alumnus of both Leadership Martin County and Leadership Palm Beach County. She also has volunteered her time with Martin County baseball, soccer and football programs; K-12 schools; and her church, where she plays three instruments and sings in the band. Most recently, she and her music partner recorded a CD, now in post-production, that focuses on “Posi Music,” or positive thought music. She has volunteered her time performing and also is in the process of having her dog certified to participate in pet therapy activities.
