Town Council Celebrates Three Years of CRB Umbrella Service

A service set up by Hailsham Town Council to check the suitability of potential employees, volunteers and people working with children or vulnerable adults, has helped local companies and voluntary organisations for three years now.

Hailsham, United Kingdom, May 07, 2010 --(PR.com)-- The Town Council acts as a registered Umbrella Body with the Criminal Records Bureau (CRB), enabling them to provide a CRB checking service to various external organisations at competitive rates.

Since it began in May 2007, the Town Council has handled over 280 requests for checks, issued over 260 disclosure certificates, and has over 20 specified service users.

Basic, standard and enhanced disclosures can be provided and processing is hassle-free, taking approximately 4-5 weeks to complete. Support and guidance on the CRB application process and an identity checking service are also offered as part of the service.

Town Clerk Liz Jones said, “It is of paramount importance for businesses and voluntary organisations to check staff thoroughly before hiring them. Over the past four years, the Town Council has supported them in their duty to protect vulnerable people by offering a professional, low-cost CRB checking service.”

Any new organisations who may wish to use the service are welcomed. To access these services, call Hailsham Town Council on 01323 841702 (during office hours), or email lynn.brand@hailsham-tc.gov.uk to request a call-back.
