Clues to Poor Student Performance Given in Rooms of the Mind, Published by Outskirts Press

Charlotte, NC, May 12, 2010 --(PR.com)-- In his newest release, Rooms of the Mind: Quadrants for Success, published by Outskirts Press, veteran educator Terry M. Brown digs into the external and internal mental stages of learning in schools in order to offer solutions to the significant problems in today’s American education system.

Addressed particularly to millions of teachers and members associated with local, state and national education associations, Rooms of the Mind explores not only the general influence that policy makers at the federal, state and local level have had on the American educational system, but it also looks directly into the classroom and how “the rooms of the mind” of a child are influenced by effective and ineffective teachers and principals.

Brown lists the attributes of effective and ineffective teachers, explains exactly how they contribute to creating only marginally successful students and also shows how the sequence of switching from effective to ineffective teachers itself affects the success/failure ratio of students.

Rooms of the Mind also shows how the demand for improved test scores has shaped student teacher relationships and how the traditional equilateral triangle of educational principles – curriculum, instruction and assessment – has been re-shaped by the over-testing that has occurred in American schools over the last several decades.

By offering an understanding of the causes behind the decline in American student achievement, Brown gives some hope for the possibility of a solution to the problems in our educational system, and he offers his thoughtful research to help those responsible to reverse the continuing decline in our students’ achievement test scores.

Rooms of the Mind is available on-line in paperback through Amazon and Barnes and Noble and at www.outskirtspress.com/buybooks for a maximum trade discount in quantities of ten or more.
