GigsWiz Launches a Groundbreaking Service for Measuring the Demand for Live Concerts

Helsinki, Finland, May 20, 2010 --(PR.com)-- Helsinki-based technology startup GigsWiz launched today the beta version of its analytics platform for the live music industry. The service helps bands, their agents and local promoters make better informed decisions on where bands should arrange concerts and tours. GigsWiz gathers fan requests through the bands’ web sites and is looking to combine it with real-time consumption data from online music services. For the first time bands, agents and promoters have clear statistics on the expected demand for gigs. Bands can serve their fans better and improve their revenue by optimizing gigs and tours to the right cities and venues.

Top Bands Signed up for the GigsWiz Beta Launch

The Rasmus are among the eager bands to start using the beta service. From today, bands internationally can request access to the GigsWiz service at http://www.gigswiz.com. The GigsWiz service is free of charge for bands and artists of all sizes.

The beta service enables bands to place the GigsWiz component on their web pages, MySpace pages and Facebook pages. The component gives fans a chance to request the bands to play a live gig in a specific city. The bands have access to all the fan request data and can also analyze the data on map. “Our product development is based on the feedback we gather from the bands using our service. The user experience data and discussions with key industry partners helps us design a service that add value to the whole industry value chain,” describes GigsWiz VP of Product Development Kai Lemmetty. Twenty Finnish bands have been testing the closed alpha version during the three months leading to the current beta launch.

The GigsWiz service is a professional tool that leverages the existing social media platforms. “The impact of social media in the music industry has been huge in the recent years. However, it is only now that decision-makers in the live music industry are starting to appreciate the full value of quantitative data collected from the social media services,” says GigsWiz CEO Juuso Vermasheinä.
